WILL YOU FALL DOWN?

Our story today comes from Matthew 4 v 8 – 10 which tells us about the last temptation Jesus underwent in the wilderness preparatory to his three and half years of Ministry. In Luke 4 v 5 - 8 it is recorded as the second temptation.

Here, we see satan, the god of this world II Corinthians 4 v 4, offering Jesus ‘all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor’ at a price: fall down and worship me.

God invested into Adam, creative abilities to create a WORD system. One structured and ordered on Godly principles that will honor and glorify none other but God, His maker. However, when he fell, his desires, motives, purpose became corrupted. Fallen Man can only create a fallen one…. the WORLD system… the world passeth away, and the lust “corrupted desires” thereof 1 John 2 v 17.

Note satan’s words in Luke 4 v 6…for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

What’s the offer? ‘power, glory, splendor’ that is the beauty and majesty of the world system…this is what satan still uses to appeal to Man. .

Who delivered it? Adam. Who controls it? Satan

What was satan appealing to? Jesus’ desire or appetite …..he still does the same to us today .

Did he succeed? No that’s why you don’t have any business falling down just as Jesus, our Captain didn’t. You’ve got what it takes to say NO to satan’s overtures cos Jesus (satan’s conqueror Colossians 2 v 15) lives in you 1 John 4 v 4

“Our corrupted human desire is what satan, the god of this world, feeds upon.”

One of the greatest wars on earth now is about the various "Focus distracters and diverters" competing for our attention.

What should our focus, affection be upon? Col 3 v1 & 2 tells us… set our affection mind on things above, not on earthly things that lead us to an important lesson.

“ Our desire is tied to our attention or what we give our focus to”

The earth and” its fullness” or everything in it Psalm 24 v 1,2 is owned and belongs to the LORD, Man is supposed to use it to glorify God and Jesus His Son whom He appointed Heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe Hebrews 1 v 2 satan is just a thief (John 10 v 10) who through deception, causes many to fall down and glorify him.

Jesus told us who we are…Light of the world Mathew 5 v 14 -16 and has sent us just as the Father hath sent him John 20 v 21. We are the ones called out ‘ecclesia” to make a difference in this” fallen world system” of Entertainment, Politics, fame, Sports, fashion etc.

How do you make the difference simple: doing things God’s way. In fact, that’s His righteousness…the kingdom of God Matthew 6 v 33

“Falling down” symbolizes absolute submission by a man of his total being to a superior. Jesus’ instructive reply, quoting from Deut 6 V 13, Deut 10 v 20, is ‘ thou shalt worship the Lord, thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve. This is what satan(God’s ex employee who was dismissed for treason) wants.

“Only God is worthy of our worship, which is also our act of service.”

So do all things God’s way whether you are sailor, environmentalist, stenographer or whatever vocation you are involved in/with. As a Christian, you are a heavenly commissioned soldier, on divine assignment on planet earth. Your vocation is your station. Colossians 3 v 17.

Today, many are still falling down to satan “the god of this world (tempo rarity, illusion)” instead of God, the Father of our lord Jesus Christ Galatians 1 v 1,” the God of the Word (eternal)”.

Will you fall down and worship satan(that defeated spirit) or will you obey Jesus and exalt, worship God.?
